18" Nautical Fouled Wooden Ship Anchor

Solid wood anchor decor. Great for landscaping in the yard or hanging up on the wall inside or out.

This stylish nautical decorating anchor measures 18.5 inches in height and 12.5 inches in width, 7/8" thick and weigh approximately 2 pounds.

Antiqued blue gray finish wrapped in rope, would be a great gift or addition to your nautical decor. Has mounting hanger on back side.

We saw a nice display, over the garage doors of a house, that had a 20" lifering in the middle flanked on each side by these anchors.

Foul is a nautical term meaning to entangle or entwine, and more generally that something is wrong or difficult. The term dates back to usage with wind-driven sailing ships. Example: "It took me forever to untangle the anchor line. It was fouled!"

Also the state of an anchor, which has become hooked on some impediment, or has its cable wound round the stock or flukes. The term is also utilized when speaking of items of historical value such as the US Navy Chief Petty Officer emblem. The fouled anchor is also the official seal of the Lord High Admiral of Britain and is flown on the ship carrying the monarch to sea. It is also flown during the launching of a warship of the Royal Navy.
